The MAX9220EUM+TD (MAX9220) is a family of serializers, deserializers (SerDes) designed for high speed, low latency, uncompensated data acquisition applications in the instrumentation, test and automation industries. The device operates from a single 3.3-V supply and can provide up to 24-bit resolution at speeds up to 25 MHz. MAX9220 devices are well suited for tachometers, resolvers, current transducers, rotary encoders, strain gauge bridges, and distance measurement applications.
The MAX9220 family of SerDes devices is based on Inmos’s innovative Transistor-Controlled-Coupled (TCC) technology and enables unprecedented levels of integration and cost savings for high-speed data acquisition applications. The device comprises six independent differential channels: four outputs, an input, and an enable input. The output channels provide fast, ultra-low-jitter, 8-bit to 24-bit words (at 25 MHz or lower) in parallel format.
The MAX9220 SerDes devices feature the revolutionary TCC output technology which provides the desired performance without any additional receiver deskew circuitry or time-domain equalization. The outputs are logically shifted (phase-shifted) such that a predetermined output differential pair will be together, no matter how long the clock-to-data transmission is. The input channel of the MAX9220 SerDes devices includes an optional source-synchronous data strobe and supports data rate up to 10 MHz. The input channel can be configured as either dc-coupled or ac-coupled operation. The MAX9220 SerDes devices are also integrated with adjustable phase detect logic and a selective programmable phase control.
