Working Principle of the MAX9225ETE+T
The MAX9225ETE+T is a complete, integrated SerDes solution. It consists of two identical channels, each providing the same features and performance. Both channels share a single reference clock input and phase-locked loop (PLL). The phase-locked loop locks the reference clock to the data that is input to the device. This synchronization allows the device to accurately and simultaneously encode and decode the data. When data is transmitted from one device to another, the reference clock of the transmitter is used to generate a clock that is transmitted in parallel with the data. Upon receipt of the data, the receiver’s PLL locks its reference clock to the transmitted clock, thus synchronizing its clocks with the transmitter.The MAX9225ETE+T also has an integrated jitter attenuator, which can reduce jitter to levels as low as 1.5 ps. This enables the device to maintain data rate efficiency and accuracy over long cable links. The MAX9225ETE+T has integrated error diagnostics, which can tell the user where errors occur in the link, thus allowing corrective action to be taken. Additionally, the device has programmable output power, enabling the user to adjust the power to the level required for the application.
