It converts high-speed data streams from one format to another and to/from a serial LVDS format. This allows two data interface controllers to communicate with each other asynchronously.The MAX9268GCM/V+ features an optional built-in clock regeneration independent of the data stream, an integrated low-power and low-voltage differential transmission (LVDS) buffer, and a clock/data recovery (CDR) module. This clock regeneration feature allows the MAX9268GCM/V+ to bridge different communication protocols with varying bit rates. It supports all popular protocols, including Fibre Channel, Ethernet, Protocol Data Unit (PDU), and Serializes Deserializes (SERDES).The MAX9268GCM/V+ also features an SPI interface, which allows for interfacing with a variety of different external peripherals, including flash memory, EEPROMs, and other similarly connected devices. It also provides the necessary logic for interfacing with the LVDS lines.The MAX9268GCM/V+ provides support for up to eight simultaneous lanes of communication, with each lane having a possible maximum data rate of up to 10 Gbps. Each lane is individually configurable to support either of two LVDS standards: low-voltage differential signaling (LVDs) or stub-matched LVDs.In addition, the MAX9268GCM/V+ has programmable equalization settings, allowing flexibility in system design.
