MAX9280GTN/V+ (GTN/V+) is a field programmable gate array (FPGA) based, high-performance peripheral interface module (PIM) for PCI Express (PCIe). The design of GTN/V+ enables a higher data transfer rate (up to 4GB/s) than the earlier GTN/V product. It is designed to support NVIDIA\'s Tesla GPU architecture, as well as AMD\'s FERMI architecture. GTN/V+ also provides additional features including advanced error handling and data distribution capabilities.
GTN/V+ is typically used in applications such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Full-duplex Networking, High Performance Computing (HPC) and Data Acquisition & Analysis. The module provides scalable performance and allows data to be transferred over multiple lanes simultaneously. It also supports complex hardware protocols such as SRIO, Fibre Channel, Ethernet, Gen-Z Serial Interface (GSI) and Serial RapidIO (SRIO).
The main purpose of GTN/V+ is to provide a serializer/deserializer (SERDES) needed for full-duplex data transfer on a PCIe express interface. The SERDES has a two-level control mechanism that allows for better timing control than traditional SERDES designs. The first level is a clock-data separator that extracts the data from the incoming serial stream and then sends it to the second-level SERDES. The second-level SERDES then performs data encoding and decoding operations. The encoded and decoded data is then ready for use in the PCIe interface.
GTN/V+ supports data serialization, deserialization, authentication, data rate and clock synchronization, control functions and error handling. Serialization is the process of converting data from parallel form to serial form. Deserialization revert the serial input stream back to parallel form. The module supports 8, 10 and 12 bit parallel data widths and various transfer rates, up to 4GB/s. Clock synchronization is used to ensure that a device\'s clock frequency is the same as that of the data source. Data authentication is used to ensure that the data is valid and authentic.
GTN/V+ also provides a number of advanced features for data and clock control. It supports multiple clock domains, clock synchronization and phase delay control, output latency and skew adjustment. It also supports data scrambling, coding and optional CRC checking. Additionally, advanced error handling features are supported which ensure data integrity by detecting and recovering from errors caused by signal interference.
GTN/V+ is ideal for low latency and high speed applications that require robust and reliable serial data links. It is an ideal solution for applications such as High Performance Computing (HPC), Graphics Processing (GPU), Big Data Analytics, Machine Learning and Network and Storage solutions.
