The MAX9282AGTM+ is a fully integrated serializer-deserializer (SerDes). It is a high-speed combination of serializer and deserializer ICs in a single package, operating to make it easier and faster for user data communication. It is used in a wide range of applications, from wired communication to wireless communication.
The main application fields for MAX9282AGTM+ are PCIe Gen3, 100GBASE-KR4, SFI4.1, AJA and more. It supports up to 28Gbps data rate on one pair of wires, 25-tap FIR for transmitter/receiver equalization and has a low power operating mode of 167mW (typical). The device has a deterministic latency of 110ns.
The working principle of the the MAX9282AGTM+ is that the incoming data stream is serialized into high-speed differential signals, which use 100 ohm differential transmission lines such as coaxial cables, backplane or printed circuit boards. The differential signals are then transmitted to the partner device. The partner device on the receiver side deserializes the received data train back into the original data stream.
The MAX9282AGTM+ works with advanced equalization to compensate for degradation caused by long lengths of twisted pair, backplane or lossy cable links. It has a unique Equalization and Pre-Emphasis architecture to ensure high performance of the SerDes embedded in the receiver.
It also has advanced Control and Management Functions such as power-up calibration, precise timing alignment, loopback and retraining modes for testing and for continuously monitoring the link performance.
The MAX9282AGTM+ is a powerful, high-speed serializer-deserializer that is used in many high-speed communications applications. It enables faster setup time, improved signal integrity and increased link length through advanced equalization.
