MAX9476EUG is the second generation device of Markertek Corporation\'s advanced programmable clock generator family, joining the popular MAX9476EU. It operates in a wide range of frequencies and supporting a variety of signal formats. An array of features, including programmable spread spectrum and multiple programmable outputs, enable easy system implementation and performance optimization. It is capable of generating high-performance clock outputs with very low jitter and glitch-free operation at power-on and power-down events.
The MAX9476EUG retains all the features of the MAX9476EU and adds an additional variable output that is adjustable from 16 to 53MHz. The variable output is programmable and allows a much greater degree of frequency diversity. The new chip can handle multiple clock frequencies and formats, while providing extremely low jitter and stable accuracy with low phase noise.
It is available in both BGA (Ball Grid Array) and 8-pin SOIC package. The BGA version provides space-saving advantages and is ideal for high-pin-count applications. It can generate LVDS, LVPECL, and SSTL output signals. The chip\'s control signals are compatible with standard 3V and 5V logic levels. In addition, it supports many common clock formats and frequencies, including PCIe and Ethernet.
The MAX9476EUG is a low-power programmable clock generator with many features and an integrated Phase Locked Loop (PLL) for frequency and timing synthesis. This PLL allows for frequency programming with an external reference and in combination with the programmable spread spectrum, allows the output frequency to be spread over a range with minimal impact on accuracy and jitter. Additionally, programmable loop filter settings, adjustable by an external resistor, allow the user to optimize performance for different device and system requirements.
The MAX9476EUG has two input pins that can be used to select between the external reference clock and the PLL reference. The reference clock is used for tuning the PLL and for generating the clock outputs. The device supports programmable spread-spectrum, allowing for clock frequency spreading over a range with minimal impact on jitter and accuracy. As previously mentioned, the variable output is adjustable from 16MHz to 53MHz and can be set in 1MHz increments.
The MAX9476EUG offers a wide range of features and flexibility in clock frequency and formats, allowing for tailored performance for various applications. It is well-suited for high-speed clock and PCIe networks, switch and router systems, HDTV display systems, high-speed ASICs, and high-end embedded systems.
