The MAX 96706GTJ+ is an integrated serializer/deserializer IC that can enable graphic or display data transfer over long distances, up to 510 feet (155.82m). The IC supports a variety of interfaces from standard WXGA RGB port, DisplayPort, HDMI, LVDS (LVTTL/EIAJ) and embedded DisplayPort (eDP). It facilitates high performance data transfers between so-called “source” and “destination” devices. The source device mainly includes computer systems such as laptops, multi-media players, or other video/audio playback devices, while the destination devices typically refer to digital displays such as LCD and projectors.

By using this IC, users can expand the system\'s maximum signal range (Cable Length). It works on the basis of the “deserialization - serialization” technique, which basically means breaking down the digital signal into a parallel signal before it is transmitted, and then reconstituting it back into its original digital signal form at the output end. In other words, theMAX 96706GTJ+ enables transmitting high-resolution digital signals over a long distance without loss.

The MAX 96706GTJ+ is specifically designed for extended resolution (WXGA) video and family audio data transmission. The IC can effectively reduce system design cost and complexity, and significantly reduce jitter. Its powerful functionality enables it to handle in-band audio (CD48) and can support up to three lanes of eDP/mDP. Also, the integrated Real-time Clock (RTC) embedded in the IC helps to reduce external component count and simplifies control, thereby reducing the overall cost of a system.

The MAX 96706GTJ+ is also flexible and configurable enough to meet various application requirements. It has a selectable input TMDS and LVTTL level with two differential receivers that support a different brightness setting, allowing users to fine-tune the optimal brightness, contrast, and saturation. The supported color spaces are sRGB, YCbCr (601, 709), and Adobe RGB.

The MAX 96706GTJ+ also incorporates a digital filter that additionally improves the picture quality. This advanced feature can filter out noisy distorted images and generate a clear picture. The chip features Built-in Self-Test (BIST) capability and can also power-down safely and cool down rapidly when the host device is switched off, thus offering improved system stability and reliability.

Apart from increased performance, the MAX 96706GTJ+ provides excellent EMI protection for both the receiver side and the transmitter side. With a low propagation delay and an optimized power consumption, it ensures fast data transmission and reliable operation.
