MB91906EB Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and Kits are designed to help engineers gain insight into the development of embedded systems based on the Renesas RX111 microcontroller platform. The evaluation and demonstration boards are designed to work with various other Renesas Renesas embedded software development tools, as well as various third party debuggers and compilers. The boards feature on-board circuitry for both general purpose I/O and low-cost external circuit assemblies for board-level testing and evaluation of the microcontroller’s performance in real-world conditions.

The MB91906EB board combines the Renesas RX111 microcontroller and an embedded RISC-V processor to provide a two-layer solution for embedded development. On the one hand, the embedded RISC-V processor can be configured to perform certain tasks independently from the main processor, while on the other hand the RX111 core is used to control more complex operations and to communicate with other components in the embedded system. The two-layer approach provides a flexible solution for engineers to expand the capabilities of their embedded system.

The development board also supports a number of peripherals such as two CAN transceivers, two TTL serial ports, two I2C ports, eight GPIOs, one ETM connector, one JTAG connector and an 8-bit LCD for displaying debug information. Additionally, it also includes two analog channels for measuring audio or analog signals, as well as an on-board voltage regulator to provide a stable voltage supply. The board can be powered through either USB or external power sources.

To facilitate system development, the evaluation and demonstration board comes with its own firmware, which gives users access to the real-time debugging systems, run-time monitoring, and software development suite.
