Mica and PTFE Capacitors are types of capacitors designed for high temperature, pulse and RF applications. MC22FF511F-F are developed using a combination of two different materials, namely mica and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). This combination creates a unique balance between capacitancy, temperature coefficient of capacitance (TCC), dielectric loss and physical size. The PTFE film increases dielectric strength and improves temperature coefficient, while the mica provides stable temperature characteristic and high capacitancy for small size capacitors. The compact size, high capacitancy, stability and wide operating temperature range make MC22FF511F-F capacitors suitable for a variety of applications in a range of fields.

Application Field

The high power performance of MC22FF511F-F capacitors make them suitable for high frequency power applications in radio equipment, automotive electronics, satellite communication, defense and aerospace, medical equipment, consumer electronics and medical electronics, for example. These capacitors can be used in applications like switching power supplies, radio frequency (RF) devices, power factor correction, voltage regulators, communication systems, AC/DC rectifiers, and so on. In addition, these capacitors can be used in high-power pulse applications, such as solid state relays, automotive ignition systems and high power rectifiers.

Working Principle

MC22FF511F-F capacitors use a combination of mica and PTFE film to achieve high power performance. The mica works as the dielectric and the PTFE as the envelope. The mica is formed into a disk and coated with PTFE on both sides, creating a thin dielectric layer between the electrodes. This thin dielectric layer provides higher capacitance than conventional ceramic capacitors. The combination of mica and PTFE also provides a low dielectric constant and low dielectric loss, as well as high temperature and voltage coefficients. The resulting capacitors have a high power density and are ideal for high frequency power applications.

The construction of MC22FF511F-F capacitors also helps to reduce thermal stress and improves reliability. The PTFE film provides a cushioning effect between the mica and the electrodes, reducing mechanical stress on the mica due to thermal expansion. The combination of mica and PTFE also helps to reduce the ESR and ESL of the capacitor, resulting in improved performance.
