The MC74ACT640MEL is a member of M-Series high-speed, low power Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) logic circuit family. It is a Hex Schmitt Trigger Buffer (STB) that has tri-state output capability. It is the ideal device for low voltage and high speed applications such as various peripheral circuits of microcomputers and in driving liquid crystal display panels. It utilizes the same input and output characteristics and pinouts that have been developed for CMOS logic. Its outstanding features include low quiescent current, high output drive capability and moderate speed performance.

The logic-level control featured in the MC74ACT640MEL provides logic gate inputs in TTL compatible Schmitt Trigger (SC) formats and is designed to be used as an input to the standard TTL and LS TTL logic families.
