PMIC - Voltage Reference: MCP1501T-12E/CHY
The MCP1501T-12E/CHY is a voltage reference device, introduced by Microchip. It comes with integrated current source, temperature compensation and dual voltage references, along with a low power standby operation. The device also integrates a temperature sensor and a low power shutdown mode.
Application Field
This PMIC power management device is ideal for highly precise and low power applications. It is suitable for a range of different applications, such as audio, industrial control, automotive, surveillance, and power monitoring systems.
Working Principle
This versatile PMIC is based on a “low dropout” regulator circuit, where voltage regulation is achieved with a very low input-output voltage difference. This allows for a very precise and stable voltage regulation. The two reference outputs are coupled to two independent bandgap circuits for high accuracy and stable voltage references. The output voltage can be adjusted through two internal resistances, with an adjustable range of +4.57V to +4.93V for the VADJ pin.
In addition, the device integrates an on-board temperature sensor with a maximum accuracy of ±1.5°C, providing an output signal proportional to the environment temperature. This temperature sensing feature protects against a wide range of environmental conditions and any potential over voltage or under voltage conditions.
The dual voltage references and pin programmability feature of the MCP1501T-12E/CHY allow for high performance and flexibility in a wide range of applications. The integrated current source provides low current operation and low power savings under standby mode, providing the device with long term reliability.
