Working Principle

MDQ-2/10 employs an electromechanical thermal actuator (lower fuse element) to monitor current passing through the fuse. This is linked to a mechanical actuator (upper fuse element) which works to detect abnormal currents. The integrated design of the two fuse elements delivers exceptional functionality along with superior protection. When an over-current is detected, a spring loaded plunger assembly moves along a linear path to open the contacts thus disconnecting the system from the power source.

MDQ-2/10 uses a low density Polymer/Ceramic as its insulation material, which gives it a good combination of mechanical, electrical, and thermal characteristics. This design enables the fuse to tolerate high temperatures and rapid temperature variations without risk of failure or structural damage.
