DC-DC converters can be used to transfer electrical energy from a source of DC power to a load with a different DC voltage level, galvanically isolating the voltage source from the load. One example of a DC-DC converter is the MEA1D0509SC. This device is a step-down DC DC converter that is used for uninterruptible power supply, control circuits, battery charging systems, LED lighting systems, and other applications.

The MEA1D0509SC is a Low Input Voltage, High Efficiency Buck Converter capable of delivering up to 0.5A of output current. This DC DC converter utilizes advanced synchronous rectification technology which makes it capable of a high efficiency rate up to 95%. It has an input voltage range of 5V to 32V and an output voltage range of 0.8V to 5V (adjustable). The switching frequency is adjustable up to 1 MHz, allowing for smaller footprints and low EMI.
