The integrated LCD segment controller, search key control, ROM, RAM and I/O Port, provide a flexible platform with superior user-experience to fit the requirement of a given application.

The core segment LCD controller is compliant with the LCD segment Panel standard defined by Microchip and is capable of displaying images (8-bit gray scale) on a wide range of LCD segment type panels. The controller supports LCD segment configurations up to 8x8 LED segments, 8x8 LED matrix and 10x12 segment matrix. The LCD segment controller also supports up to four different fonts and can be used to display characters from 8-bit ASCII codes.

The USB 2.0 peripheral provides fast data transfer rates up to 12 Mbps for applications that require high speed data transfer. The embedded ADC is used to convert analog signals to digital data for interpretation by the microcontroller. The 12-bit Motorola-D interface is an industry standard for communication between the MCU and other peripheral devices. The search key controller is integrated to read keystrokes from the integrated search key and can detect up to four keys.

The 4K-byte ROM is used to store code and other data and can be used to program the MEC1310-NU-TR. The 8K-byte of RAM is used to store intermediate results of calculations as well as used to provide read/write data buffers. Finally, the 8-bit I/O port enables easy connection to external devices. When an external device connected to the I/O port is triggered, an interrupt is triggered to let the controller know that the connected device has an action to be performed.
