Working Principle of MENB1090A1844Q01 AC/DC Desktop and Wall Adapter

The MENB1090A1844Q01 AC/DC Desktop and Wall Adapter utilizes a full-bridge rectifier to convert the AC source into DC output. The output is then regulated by a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller. The input voltage range and current limit are selected during design, and the output voltage is adjustable based on the application requirements. The adapter also features a wide range of protections such as: over current, over voltage, short-circuit, over temperature, and auto recovery.

The MPPT controller dynamically adjusts the current across the power supply in order to optimize the power efficiency and avoid the power loss of the traditional linear regulator. The output voltage, currently available as adjustable 5VDC or 12VDC, is adjusted using the voltage feedback pin with an external voltage divider. The output current is limited to a predetermined limit set during design. In the event of an over-current condition, the current limit will kick in to protect the output devices.
