PTC resettable fuses, also referred to as polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) fuses, are passive electrical components that protect circuits from overloads and short circuits. The MF-R050-2 is designed especially for the over-current protection of an entire system. It is typically used in backup power applications such as emergency lighting, LED lighting and automotive electric power systems.

The MF-R050-2 includes a resistor-style member such as a metal oxide or a polymeric element, and a self-resetting/self-recovering fuse. When current exceeds the rated value, the PTC starts to rise and offer additional resistance. This quickly increases the temperature of the metal oxide or polymeric element until it reaches the "open" temperature, then the circuit is disconnected. After the current is lowered to a lower value, the PTC will return to its original cold-state resistivity range, thus allowing the system to return to operation.

PTC resettable fuses have several advantages compared with traditional fuses; they have a much higher energy-let through capability and are environmentally friendly. They can withstand much higher current levels without breaking down, which makes them suitable for short circuit protection. As the MF-R050-2 has a self-reset/self-recovery functionality, it does not require regular monitoring or maintenance.

The MF-R050-2 also has several unique features, including a high holding current and high break current, which ensures it is suitable for the protection of a wide range of system circuit designs. It also has a built-in thermistor, which allows it to disconnect quickly in the event of an overload or short circuit. This ensures that the system is quickly and reliably protected.

In summary, the application fields for the MF-R050-2 are wide and varied. It is an ideal choice for the reliable and efficient protection of multiple system designs, and offers superior features compared to traditional fuses. With its self-reset/self-recovery feature, it does not require regular maintenance, and can offer a quick and reliable protection to its users.
