PTC resettable fuses designed for overcurrent protection of low voltage electrical systems are widely used in the industry, and the MF-R1100-AP-99 is one of them. This article provides a brief introduction to its application field and working principle.

Application Fields

The MF-R1100-AP-99 is suitable for protecting low-voltage systems, such as household appliances, motors, LED lighting, lithium battery packs, power adapters, and other electronic devices, against excessive current. This PTC resettable fuse can work efficiently in the temperature range of -55°C to 125°C with reliable operation and based on electrical parameters and circuit conditions.

Working Principle

The MF-R1100-AP-99 is based on the polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) , which is operated based on the resistive-capacitive effect principle. When a short circuit occurs and the current exceeds the rated current, the integrated PPTC device will instantly increase its resistance, thus limiting the current and protecting the system from overcurrent. The overcurrent can be reset manually by pressing the reset button, and the resistance of the PTC resettable fuse drops to its initial setting, allowing the current to flow again.

Conclusion

The MF-R1100-AP-99 is a PTC resettable fuse designed for low-voltage applications. It is based on the PPTC technology with the resistive-capacitive effect. When the current exceeds the rated current, the PPTC device increases its resistance instantly, limiting the current. The overcurrent can be reset manually by pressing the reset button, allowing the current to flow again. As such, it is a very efficient and reliable form of protection for low-voltage systems.
