PTC Resettable fuses are used to protect electronics from overcurrent conditions. The MF-R160-AP is a resettable fuse designed for medical equipment and other applications where the risk of electrical shock needs to be minimized. The MF-R160-AP is a combination of a TVS diode and a polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) device. The TVS diode provides transient and surge protection by limiting peak voltage across the terminals. The advantage of this combination of components is that the current limitation is both self-resetting and accurate.

When the current is reduced to below the rated current, the device will cool down, and the circuit will become operational again. The device can be reset multiple times until the maximum trip temperature is reached, after which it must be replaced. The benefit of resetting capability is that it prevents downtime in applications such as medical equipment.
