PTC Resettable Fuses are a novel type of fuse that use materials such as polymers, metal salts, or waxes to limit current. Unlike traditional fuses, the PTC Resettable Fuses are not blown when they reach their rated voltage; instead, they undergo a drastic change in resistance to reduce current flow. The MF-R250-0-99 is one such resettable fuse, designed with a 250V rating and a 0.99 work surge current.

The MF-R250-0-99 is primarily used in industrial applications and electronics, most notably in applications such as solar cells, automotive circuits, Air conditioner circuits, and other high-power applications. In general, its purpose is to protect the device in which it is installed, from an overcurrent or short-circuit event. In most cases, the MF-R250-0-99 will trip and limit current flow to the device without permanently damaging it.

The MF-R250-0-99 has several distinct advantages over traditional fuses when used in high-power applications. First, it offers much higher surge current protection – up to ten times higher than traditional fuses. Once the overcurrent event has passed, the PTC element will cool and return to a low-resistance state, allowing current to flow normally. This reset process is often referred to as “thermal reset” and is one of the key advantages of PTC Resettable Fuses over traditional fuses. As a result, the MF-R250-0-99 is capable of self-resetting itself, thus eliminating the need for replacement.

Overall, the MF-R250-0-99 is an effective and reliable fuse that is well-suited to high-power applications.
