PTC Resettable Fuses, such as the MF-R250, are devices used to protect equipment from electrical hazards, such as excessive current, voltage transients, overload, or short-circuit conditions. They are also used to protect against power interruptions, especially when the primary power supply fails. By allowing a predetermined current to flow through the fuse, it can be reset after the circuit is restored.

The MF-R250 features a polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) fuse element, which behaves like a low resistance at normal operating temperatures and then rapidly increases in resistance when exposed to excessive current. It is a self-resetting fuse and unlike other fuses, it does not need to be replaced when it opens due to an over-current. Instead, it will reset itself when the condition that caused the over-current is removed.

The working principle of PTC Resettable Fuses is quite simple and can be explained in a few steps. When the device is subjected to normal operating currents, the PTC element acts in a similar manner to an ordinary low-resistance conductor. Current flows through the fuse element with minimal losses. However, if the stress on the device\'s electrical system exceeds the nominal design parameters, the PTC element quickly responds and its resistance rapidly increases. This leads to an increase in the current\'s impedance and thus acts as a protection mechanism.

The MF-R250 is designed to handle overloads up to 250A and short-circuits of up to 650V. It is suitable for use in automotive and industrial control systems, power-supply units, multi-phase power supplies, electric vehicles, power supplies, and UPS systems. It is also capable of conveniently and safely controlling the power distribution in AC/DC power supplies, solar panel systems, and industrial control equipment.
