PTC resettable fuses have a wide range of applications due to their great many advantages such as fast responding, miniaturization, high current-carrying capability, etc. MF-R300 is one of such resettable fuses. It is a radial leaded, one-time programmable, solid state device, and has excellent protection capabilities with fast response time. MF-R300 is used to protect against short circuits, overloads and overvoltage conditions as well as protecting against transient fault currents.
The working principle of MF-R300 is based on its trip characteristics that are programmed at time of manufacture. An inrush current of sufficient intensity will cause the junction temperature to exceed a certain threshold due to its internal heating, producing an immediate trigger. This current is called the trip current. The fuse value will reset when the current drops below the reset current. This reset current is only a fraction of the trip current, typically 10% to 20% of the original trip current.
MF-R300 is typically used in applications such as DC/DC converters, battery chargers, AC/DC adapters, desktop PCs, automotive lighting, uninterruptable power supplies, LED TV and other electronic devices. This fuse is particularly advantageous in applications that require high inrush currents, since its reset current is only a tenth of its trip current.
It is also suitable for use in applications that require a short response time, due to its high current-carrying capability and fast trip time. MF-R300 can provide reliable overcurrent protection for most applications with a response time of less than 5 microseconds.
