PTC Resettable Fuses are devices that are designed to offer short circuit and overload protection in the form of a plastic fuse. Some devices feature an additional protection function by including a current-sensing element and a timing/latching component designed to limit the high-inrush current that could otherwise damage motors, electronic components, and delicate electrical systems upon startup.
The MF-RX135-AP PTC Resettable Fuse is designed to provide overcurrent protection, limiting overcurrent and preventing secondary damage caused by thermal and overvoltage conditions. This protection is achieved through the use of a alternating path between the fuse and two current-sensing elements, which limit the load current when an overcurrent is detected. The MF-RX135-AP also features a timing/latching component that limits inrush current upon startup.
The application field of the MF-RX135-AP PTC Resettable Fuse is diverse and extensive as the devise is used to limit or regulate current in many different applications. The MF-RX135-AP may be used in power supplies, audio applications, automotive applications, lighting ballasts, communications equipment, industrial control systems, and other applications where over current, over temperature, and surge protection are needed.
The working principle of the MF-RX135-AP PTC Resettable Fuse is based on the flow of current which creates heat within the device. At the start of an operating cycle, current flows through both paths of the MF-RX135-AP. The resulting heat is then sensed by the two current-sensing elements, limiting overcurrent and preventing secondary damage caused by thermal and overvoltage conditions. The timing/latching component limits inrush current upon startup.
When the current limit of the PTC Resettable Fuse is exceeded, the two elements heat up and open the current path. This action activates a latching mechanism, disconnecting the fuse from the circuit until the current return to a safe level. After reaching a safe level, the device will reset itself with the timer and latches closing the current path. This cycle can be repeated multiple times until the device reaches its maximum current rating.
In addition to its overcurrent protection, the MF-RX135-AP PTC Resettable Fuse offers surge protection capabilities. When a transient voltage is detected, the fuse will trip and disconnect the load from the circuit. This eliminates the possibility of secondary damage caused by surges.
The MF-RX135-AP PTC Resettable Fuse is designed to provide overcurrent protection in a variety of applications. The device’s working principle is based on the flow of current which creates heat. This heat is then sensed by two current-sensing elements, limiting overcurrent and preventing secondary damage caused by thermal and overvoltage conditions. The timing/latching component limits inrush current upon startup. The device also offers surge protection capabilities, providing protection from transient voltage.
