The MF-SM150-2 PTC Resettable Fuse works based on the principle of thermally-controlled current flow. The fuse is composed of a Temperature-Dependent Resistor (PTC) and a symmetrical bimetal. As the current passes through the PTC, it rising resistance is detected by the bimetal. When the temperature of the fuse exceeds a certain predetermined temperature (due to excessive current), the bimetal will deform, causing the contact between the two pins to separate. When the temperature of the fuse drops, the contact will re-establish and the current will be driven back to the desired rating.

Due to the repeatable nature of the MF-SM150-2 PTC Resettable Fuse, it is able to protect the circuit from periodical over-current and thermal hazards. In addition, it can be used as a thermal protection to protect the circuit against accidental overloads and excessive heat build-up.
