Through Hole Resistors

Through Hole Resistors, or THRs, are passive electronic components, or resistors, that are connected to printed circuit boards (PCBs) using two leads which are passed through holes drilled into the PCB material. THRs are used in a wide variety of electronic applications, such as input protection, over-current protection, power supply regulation, bias networks, noise suppression, AC/DC conversion, and biasing. They are the primary form of resistance used in most electronic circuits and systems, and come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. The most common type of THR is a device made of a resistor material with two protruding metal leads, a metal case, and a thermally conductive mounting. The leads are electrically connected to two small metal or plastic solders which are inserted into the PCB holes.
