The internal power MOSFET can support a wide supply range from 5V to 40V allowing to drive LEDs with a rating as low as 5V. Working Principle

The MIC2287C-15BML-TR LED driver works by controlling the voltage or current applied to the LED node. The driver has two input pins, one is an analog control pin, that is the Sense Pin, and the other one is a PWM Control pin. Depending on the logic state of the PWM pin the LED current can be regulated.

When the PWM pin is in a logic \'High\' state, the Sense Pin starts to regulate the current to the LED node. The Sense Trigger Level (STL), determines the amount of current applied to the LEDs. This current can be configured using the external resistors connected to the Sense Howitzer pin. The current will start to increase or decrease depending on the voltage present on the Sense pin; both increasing and decreasing is done independently.

When the PWM control pin is in a logic \'Low\' state, the LED current is immediately cut-off and the device enters in a low-current mode, significantly reducing the power consumption.

Additionally, the integrated Low-side Fault Flag signals an LED open or short fault condition, discharging the LED node if a fault occurs. The device also includes a temperature alert flag, signaling if an over temperature threshold is exceeded.
