The MIC23158YML-TR is a nano size step-down DC to DC switch-mode voltage regulator driven by the internal high voltage power MOSFET and constant frequency current mode control.

Working Principle of MIC23158YML-TR

The MIC23158YML-TR is a DC to DC constant frequency current mode controller that uses a high voltage power MOSFET to switch between the input voltage and the output voltage. The switching frequency is internally set to 1.2MHz allowing the use of small external components.

The device utilizes an on-time control mode in which the on-time of the current mode control is constantly adjusted based on the input voltage, output voltage and temperature. This reduces switching frequency excursions and improves system stability while operating at light loads.

The device includes an internal differential amplifier to sense the output voltage and feed it to the voltage error amplifier. The voltage error amplifier output is compared with an internal reference voltage and integrated with the on-time control loop.
