The MIC3001GML-TR is a small, but powerful interface – drivers, receivers, transceivers. It integrates a high-speed differential signal receiver/transmitter, a programmable low power signal processor, and a low power, high frequency data converter. This device can perform signal conditioning, signal conversion, and signal transmission, thereby allowing device designers to rapidly and effectively develop products that support the most demanding differential signal transmission applications.
The MIC3001GML-TR supports a wide range of signal transmission applications. It can transmit and receive high speed differential signals up to 6.5 Gbps. It can operate in a temperature range from -40℃ to +85℃ and is RoHS-compliant. It is highly integrated, with a simplified layout that ensures excellent signal integrity. Furthermore, its small size and low power consumption make it ideal for compact and energy-saving designs.
The MIC3001GML-TR is ideal for digital interfaces requiring high speed and high dynamic performance, such as pluggable optical module applications, multi-gigabit / gigabit Ethernet applications, digital video interface (DVI), display port (DP), HDMI, and USB 3.0. Interfacing with such systems requires devices that offer high speed data rate, low power consumption and excellent signal integrity.
At the heart of the MIC3001GML-TR is a highly configurable differential signal processing path inside the device that enables the device to be used in a variety of designs. This signal processing path includes three stages which are the programmable, low power, differential receiver, the signal conditioning and transmission stage, and the high-speed data converter. These stages are controlled by a single integrated analog control module, allowing designers to quickly and easily configure the signal path to meet the requirements of their specific applications.
The programmable, low power, differential receiver is designed to detect, process, and shape an incoming differential signal. To reduce power consumption, this receiver uses a low-power, high-frequency clock, which allows the receiver to operate at a very low power level. The data converter features a low jitter clock input, enabling high frequency digital signals to be accurately received and accurately transmitted.
The signal conditioning and transmission stage is responsible for converting the input signal from the low power receiver stage into a high speed output signal. This stage includes a variable gain amplifier, digital equalizer, variable pre-emphasis and power delivery circuitry. The variable gain amplifier is used to adjust the input signal level for optimal performance, while the digital equalizer filters out unwanted noise that can reduce the signal quality. The variable pre-emphasis is used to adjust the signal level to ensure that the output signal is optimized for the intended application. Finally, the power delivery circuitry is responsible for providing the necessary power required to transmit the signal.
The final stage is the high speed data converter, which enables the device to send and receive data at high data rates. This stage takes the output from the conditioning and transmission stage and converts it into a digital signal suitable for transmission. The high-speed data converter includes a low jitter clock input, allowing high speed, low latency serial data transmission.
