The MLX90316KGO-BDG-100-SP is a 3-axis-in-one monolithic angle sensor designed to measure the angular position and orientation of a target magnet relative to the IC package. Built with an innovative, proprietary coreless technology, this angle sensor can measure angles up to ±135° in any axis with an accuracy of up to 0.02° over the operating temperature range of -25°C to +85°C. It comes in a compact 2x2mm package, which simplifies integration into drones and robotics systems.

Working principle:

The MLX90316KGO-BDG-100-SP angle sensor uses a 3x3 array of magnetoresistive elements, combined with sophisticated real-time signal processing algorithms, to measure the position of a nearby target magnet. By detecting the change in magnetic field strength in each axis, the angle sensor is able to accurately determine the angular orientation of the target magnet relative to the IC package.

The angular position of the target magnet is measured in two parts: angular speed and angular position. The angular speed is determined by sampling the magnetic field strength in each axis and calculating the rate-of-change of the target magnet\'s position. The angular position is determined by integrating the angular speed over time, which results in a high-resolution, absolute angle value.

The MLX90316KGO-BDG-100-SP can be configured with an integrated temperature compensation function to maintain the accuracy of the angle measurements over a wide temperature range. This allows the angle sensor to remain accurate in even the most challenging environmental conditions.
