It is commonly used in automotive applications, particularly for power steering, power door locks, and ventilation systems, as well as in packaging and industrial machinery, actuator systems, medical equipment, as well as in any system where a high degree of accuracy is needed. It is also suitable for use in zero-power sensing applications as the Hall Effect device automatically stores the absolute position as soon as the power is removed.Working Principle:The MLX90360EDC-ACD-000-TU measures the absolute angular position of a target based on the Hall effect principle using a ferromagnetic target to define its ranges. The sensor consists of a Hall sensitive device and two rare earth magnets mounted on the stator and rotor of the device respectively. As the target moves, the sensing device measures the relative positions of the two magnets and determines the absolute angular position.The output signal from the MLX90360EDC-ACD-000-TU is a linear digital interface consisting of a zero-cross position, three output bits, and a select bit, allowing for programming according to user requirements. When the target rotates, the output signal is updated with each incremental step and produces a corresponding linear output.The MLX90360EDC-ACD-000-TU has a very low offset (zero-cross position) and low linearity error (maximum difference between the actual and theoretical angular output). The output is also very stable, even in harsh operating conditions.
