MLX90363EDC-ABB-000-TU is a magnetic sensor in the Linear, Compass (ICs) Magnetic Sensors family. This device is a triple-axis programmable Hall-effect closed-loop linear magnetic sensor IC, designed to sense linear movement along the x,y,z axis. It is targeted for mobile devices, automotive applications, and industrial automation requiring high-accuracy and wide linear detection range without micro-stepping.This magnetic sensor features a very low-power (1mW) consumption, and a low-noise output, together with a high linearity and linear detection range, which makes it suiable for a broad range of applications in consumer-electronics, automotive and industrial-automation.The MLX90363EDC-ABB-000-TU incorporates two programmable Hall plates with each two programmable linearity-correction coefficients and two temperature compensation coefficients. These settings can be set by the end-user through two separate interface pins in the I2C and SPI protocol. The device also features an on-chip EEPROM for storing the configuration parameters.In terms of the physics behind operation, the device works by measuring the angle of a magnetic field between two sensing elements placed in close proximity with each other on opposite sides of the sensing track. When the magnetic flux density between the two elements varies (due to linear displacement of the magnetic linear field), the output of the device varies accordingly.The MLX90363EDC-ABB-000-TU is mainly used across a range of consumer-electronic applications, such as remote-controls, joysticks, game-pads, computer mice, track-balls, touchpads and pressure-sensitive track-pads.
