Working Principle

The MP2108DQ-LF-P works on the principle of synchronous rectification. It consists of a power MOSFET and low-side MOSFET. The power MOSFET is responsible for controlling the voltage regulation; the low-side MOSFET is responsible for synchronous rectification. When the power MOSFET is fully on, the voltage across its drain and source terminals is the same as the input voltage. This ensures the lowest possible switching loss and high efficiency. When the MOSFET is turning off, the low-side MOSFET conducts the current, and the voltage decreases to its set levels. In this way, the voltage levels are regulated and monitored.
