MPI001/28/BL/24 Application Field and Working Principle

The MPI001/28/BL/24 pushbutton switch is a versatile and economical pushbutton switch suitable for a wide variety of industrial applications. The MPI001/28/BL/24 has a maximum rating of 5A @ 250V AC or 0.5A @ 24V DC. It features a standard silver contact, IP65-resistant plastic housing, and two 5mm mounting holes for connection to a switch panel or wall panel. The switch is illuminated via a small white LED, which is powered by a simple two-conductor DC power source.

Working Principle: The MPI001/28/BL/24 uses momentary contact pushbutton switches. It has three switch positions: ON, OFF, and ON with LED ON. When the switch is pressed, it causes a small amount of current to flow through the contacts. This current causes a magnetic field to be generated. When the magnetic field exceeds the pull of a small needle, the contact closes and the circuit is completed.

Once the switch is released, the needle springs back and the contacts separate, stopping the flow of current. When the switch is in the ON position, the LED is lit. When the switch is in the OFF position, the LED is off. The LED is wired in series with the switch contacts and is powered by a separate power source.
