It is part of the standalone power control product line from MPS and can be used in a range of applications, from consumer to enterprise, for a variety of purposes. The MPQ2560DN-LF-Z can be used in a variety of circuits, from DC-DC boost or buck converters to energy harvesting systems or battery management systems.The MPQ2560DN-LF-Z is a highly adaptive integrated regulator, allowing for very precise and custom regulation to suit the specific power needs of the application. It has both a voltage regulation and a current regulation version, with 0.5V to 100V and 0.5A to 50A operation respectively. The device has an adjustable output voltage range between 0.8V and 5.5V and an adjustable switching frequency range up to 1.2MHz.The MPQ2560DN-LF-Z integrates a synchronous rectifier concept and uses a wide input voltage range. It can be used in either buck or boost topologies and can provide up to 97% peak efficiency. Its switching frequency can be adjusted to adapt to loads and can be further controlled by an external resistor if needed to reach an optimal balance between efficiency and peak output current.The internal circuit includes a high-side and low-side MOSFET that are driven by the PWM controller. When triggered, the top MOSFET is turned on, allowing current to flow from the input to the inductor. This increases the magnetic field and voltage of the inductor until it is equal to the input voltage (in buck topology) or to the output voltage (in boost topology). The low-side MOSFET is then triggered, allowing the inductor to discharge its voltage into the output, thus completing the conversion cycle.The MPQ2560DN-LF-Z also includes several safety features: it has a short-circuit protection and an over-current protection, which will protect the device from being damaged in case of excessive current or short-circuit conditions.
