MT90812AL1 Application Field and Working PrincipleThe MT90812AL1 is an advanced, low-cost physical layer device for telecommunications networks. It integrates several baseband processing functions, including differentiating symbols from a digital data stream, creating an amplitude-modulated (AM) waveform, restoring the transmitted-carrier information, encoding transmit information, buffering the processed transmission data, demodulating AM signals, and decoding received data. It can be used in any type of communications terminal, including consumer electronic devices, industrial networking products, and internet appliances. The device is compliant with the popular communication interface standards, providing a communication interface with up to 2 Mbps transfer rate.

The initialization of the device is done by a host processor or controller. After successful communication has been established, MT90812AL1 is connected with the interface. At the receiver, the demodulator uses the amplitude-modulated waveform and the received carrier information to recover the transmitted data. The received data is then decoded and stored in the RAM utilizing the built-in decoder. Finally, the processor compares the received data with the transmitted data and calculates the quality of the transmission link.
When connected with the host processor, MT90812AL1 is capable of transmitting and receiving data to and from the other device.
