MTI-20-2A8G4-DK is an evaluation board for sensors, manufactured by MEAS Switzerland. It consists of a high-performance, integrated, dual-axis microwave Doppler sensor and a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4 microcontroller with up to 2GB of optional NAND Flash memory. The board is designed to be used in a variety of sensing applications, from motion detection and navigation, to collision avoidance and medical diagnostics.

Application Field

The MTI-20-2A8G4-DK is designed to capture data from two perpendicular Doppler motion sensors. This allows for a wide range of applications, such as motion and vibration detection, ranging and navigation, and obstacle detection and avoidance. Additionally, the board can be used for vibration monitoring, to monitor conditions in medical diagnostics, or to detect changes in climate and pressure for environmental monitoring.

The measurement range covers up to 200 Hz for frequency measurements, and up to 200 m/s for velocity measurements. Additionally, the board can measure temperature up to a range of 200 Celsius, making the system suitable for a variety of sensing applications.

Working Principle

The MTI-20-2A8G4-DK board consists of a high-performance, dualaxis microwave Doppler sensor and a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4 microcontroller with up to 2GB of optional NAND Flash memory. The Doppler sensor operates in two modes: normal and burst mode. In normal mode, both axes measure the same signal, while in burst mode the axes measure different signals. The dual-axis microwave Doppler system measures frequency, velocity, and distance in the plane of motion.

The ARM Cortex-M4 microcontroller embedded in the board handles the data processing. It contains up to 255 digital and analog signal processing blocks, as well as interfaces for communication with additional sensors or host devices. The board supports a variety of communication protocols, including UART, I2C, and SPI, for communication between components. The system also features a wide range of capabilities, such as an anisotropic magneto resistive digital compass and a range of motion detectors.

The board also offers an extended number of safety features, such as an obstacle detector and a low power mode. Additionally, the board can be used for data logging of motion sensors and other applications. This data can be stored on the board for later use, or transmitted to other systems.
