Power Line Filter Modules are used to protect sensitive equipment from electrical noise and transient voltage spikes within a wide range of electro-mechanical systems. The filter module includes Low Pass Filter (LPF), Common Mode Filter (CMF) and High Pass Filter (HPF). The NAM-10-221-D is a high efficiency Fixed Schematic Common Mode Filter (FS-CMF). It\'s used to improve noise performance within power line and data communications, especially in applications with higher frequency ranges.
The NAM-10-221-D works as an LPF for common-mode noise in high frequency power line and data communications. It has a low insertion loss of 0.72 dB in the 8 kHz to 110 kHz range and a maximum attenuation of 48 dB in the 500 kHz to 1.2 MHz range. The filter consists of two identical sections with each section containing three pair of capacitors and inductors. The inductors are type-3064 for use in extended high frequency applications. The capacitors are surface mounted X7R, 2.2nF and 0.22nF, rated for dc voltage up to 500VDC.
The NAM-10-221-D also provides High Pass Filter (HPF) for transverse mode noise. HPF main functions are to reduce the power line and railway noise induced into a power supply system. In addition, HPF helps to reduce transient over-voltage by limiting the rise time of transient events. The filter’s high frequency HPF is designed to attenuate high frequency signals, allowing it to filter out higher frequency power line noise and railway noise, while the low frequency HPF provides low frequency core grounding. It also provides an adjustable damping resistor and inductor for damping and suppression of higher frequency harmonic components. The maximum attenuation of the filter is 45.6dB at 300kHz.
The NAM-10-221-D also provides Common Mode Filter (CMF). This filter is used to suppress common-mode voltage noise. The filter works by providing a low impedance path to ground for the common-mode current. The common-mode current is then filtered by the CMF before it is sent back to the power lines. It also helps to suppress radio frequency interference (RFI) that can be caused by the harmonics generated in power line and data signal lines. The filter features an adjustable damping resistor and inductor for damping and suppression of higher frequency harmonic components.
The NAM-10-221-D filter provides low noise, high efficiency and the lowest possible insertion loss. This allows it to provide the highest protection possible to sensitive equipment in power line and data communication applications. It helps to reduce both common-mode and transverse-mode noise and is designed for frequency ranges up to 1.2 MHz. It is suitable for both internal and external applications.
In summary, the NAM-10-221-D is a high efficiency Fixed Schematic Common Mode Filter (FS-CMF) for power line and data communication applications. It provides low noise, high efficiency and the lowest possible insertion loss with a high frequency range up to 1.2 MHz. This filter consists of two identical sections, each section containing three pair of capacitors, inductors and a adjustable damping resistor and inductor for damping and suppression of higher frequency harmonic components.
