,The NAM-20-471-DXE is part of the popular OMRON Corporation Power Line Filter Modules lineup. It is designed to reduce AC noise on power line circuits and improve safety and reliability. This filter module is available in Screw-Down or Slot type housings. It has a rated current of 2A, maximum leakage current of 100μA, and a rated frequency of 50/60 Hz. It offers very good noise suppression characteristics with attenuation of up to 60 dB at 10 kHz.
The noise reduction function works by connecting the filter module to a power line circuit, where it forms an interlock panel. It then filters out the reactive components created by circuit inductance, capacitance, and resistance. These components form what is known as an impedance, which causes the electrical current to vibrate and create the unwanted noise. By attaching the filter module, the phantom currents produced by the impedance are eliminated, resulting in a much quieter circuit.
The NAM-20-471-DXE module also has a safety benefit as well. If any protective device malfunctions and a lightning strike should hit the power line, the circuit breaker will be activated and the module will act as a buffer to reduce the damage caused by the strike. This is a valuable addition to any circuit, especially where the current is higher than intended.
In addition to noise protection and safety, the NAM-20-471-DXE has been designed with an aesthetic benefit in mind. The housing of the module has been designed to blend seamlessly into the existing power line modules, making it suitable for use in professional installations. Even the screws to fasten the module are recessed, so there is no risk of accidental shorting or damage.
The NAM-20-471-DXE performs its duties very well, and can be used in any number of applications. In industrial and commercial environments, it is used to reduce AC noise on power circuits, improve safety, and increase the reliability of connected systems. In home applications, it can provide valuable protection against power surges and lightning strikes, while still being made to seem like part of the existing power line.
