Working Principle

The working principle of the NB-PTCO-011 is based on the phenomenon of electrical resistance change with temperature. The core of the sensing element is an etched foil supported on a ceramic substrate. The resistor composition is nickel based and is etched to create a heat sensitive film. As the temperature changes, the resistance of the film changes proportionally.The NB-PTCO-011 is connected to an electrical circuit for sensing the resistance changes. The sensing element is connected in a four-wire configuration, with a constant DC current passed through two of the wires, and the voltage developed across the other two being measured. This voltage is then converted to a temperature using a resistance-temperature conversion formula.

Installation and Operation

The NB-PTCO-011 is a self-contained device, which makes the installation and operation very simple. The device can simply be mounted onto the surface of the object or equipment to be measured and connected to a suitable power supply.
