Power Line Filter Modules are designed to eliminate undesirable elements in power supplies. The NBH-20-202 is a Power Line Filter Module that can filter higher frequencies in power supplies.

The NBH-20-202 Power Line Filter Module comes with two-stage filtering that can pass Voltage Level directly and divide it into multiple frequencies. The two-stage filtering is split into input filter and output filter.

Input Filtering: This is the first filter stage and it comprises of four components: Inductors, Capacitors, Resistor & Ferrites/MOVs. The main type of components used in this stage are EMI Ferrites with Cores, EMI Beads with Cores, Resistor & EMI Capacitors.

This filter stage is where the power line filter provides most of its reduction in higher frequency noise. The Ferrite/MOVs will block most frequencies above 500 MHz from entering the filter, while the Capacitors will block out frequencies above 10 MHz.

The inductors and resistors help in reducing the magnitude of the inserted noise by dampening the effect of the high frequency signals present in the power supply. By providing further dampening, these components further reduce the amount of high frequency noise that can enter the rest of the filter.

Output Filtering: This is the second filter stage and it includes two components: Ferrite/Choke & Capacitors. The Ferrite/Choke is responsible for providing further reduction in higher frequency noise that may still be present from the input filter. This is done by further dampening the signal, thereby reducing higher frequency noise to a minimum.

The Capacitors are then used to block out any further noises that may be present in the power supply. This is done by acting as a filter which only allows frequencies below 10 MHz to pass through. This is in contrast to the Input Filtering stage, where the Capacitors only blocked frequencies above 10 MHz.

The NBH-20-202 Power Line Filter Module offers an increased attenuation level of 18dB at 500MHz, which makes it an excellent choice for applications requiring a high level of noise protection.
