Optical Sensors incorporate photo cells, CdS Cells, and photo detectors with the ability to detect light intensity and respond with an electrical output. NSL-6910 is a type of CdS Cells, a type of photo detector, controlling the flow of electrons through an electric switch, by changing the light passing through its semiconductor material such as silicon or gallium arsenide. Its working principle is based on the resistance principle of photoconductivity.

CdS Cells is a semiconductor device consisting of cadmium sulfide materials, made from semiconductor materials, which change resistance when illuminated. It means that NSL-6910 sensor changes its resistance when exposed to a light source. When there is a light intensity, the output of electricity generated by NSL-6910 cell increases, and vice versa. In addition, the NSL-6910 also changes its resistance when the incident light wavelength changes, so its output will also change correspondingly. When the incident light is switched off, the NSL-6910 will return to its original state. The working principle of NSL-6910 is simple and reliable. When exposed to any light source, an electric current is created, allowing electrical energy to flow from one point to the other. The magnitude of the current is determined by the strength of the light that impinges upon the NSL-6910 cell. There are two principles involved in its operation: photoconductivity and photo-catalysis. When a light source impinges on NSL-6910, it changes its resistance in proportion to the amount of light received, thus increasing the flow of electrons and resulting in a measurable current. The degree of the current is also dependent on the wavelength of the light. In addition, the energy absorbed by the NSL-6910 cell is then converted into electrical energy, allowing the digital signals to be measured accurately. The NSL-6910 can be used in various types of applications. It is mainly used in applications such as automatic lighting systems, fire detection, smoke detectors, presence detectors, photo interrupters and so on. An example of such an application is automated light switching, where a digital signal is sent from a timer device to an NSL-6910, triggering the switch when the timer reach a specific time. The NSL-6910 cell will then sense the surrounding light and turn the switch to opposite state either on or off. The resulting electrical power can then be used to turn the lights on and off as desired. In addition, the NSL-6910 can be used in presence detectors, where the cell measures the light reflected from an object and outputs an electrical signal when the object is present or not. This signal can then be used for further processing, such as triggering a warning alarm. Similarly, NSL-6910 can be used as a fire detector where, it triggers a warning signal upon sensing a sudden change in light intensity or wavelength, indicating a possible fire. The NSL-6910 is ideal for applications where accurate light sensing, high-speed operation, and reliability are of utmost importance. With its highly accurate and reliable performance, the NSL-6910 makes for an ideal choice for such applications.
