OCP-PCT218/E-TR Working Principle
The OCP-PCT218/E-TR employs light refraction technology in order to transmit electrical signals from one circuit to another. An LED is used to generate a light beam, which is then focused through the optical system within the isolator. The light beam is modulated by an electrical signal, and the modulation pattern is then reflected onto a photovoltaic cell which then creates the required current flow to the target circuit.
As the electrical signal never comes into direct contact with the target circuit, the OCP-PCT218/E-TR offers high isolation between the two circuits. The isolation voltage rating of the OCP-PCT218/E-TR is 5KVAC and its isolation resistance is 10GΩ. The power consumption of the OCP-PCT218/E-TR is very low and it can operate within a wide temperature range of -40°C to +105°C.
