OR-BNC-R, otherwise known as the Right Angle BNC Connector, is a type of coaxial connector developed by Radiall and created to meet industry specific needs. Originating from the popular BNC, TNC, and SMA connector series, this connector provides optimum performance and is suitable for a wide range of applications, such as wireless communication, instrumentation, broadcast, medical, transportation, aerospace, and consumer electronics.
The OR-BNC-R is characterized by a small-sized, flexible, light-weight design, which makes it ideal for use in high-frequency applications. These types of connectors provide excellent insulation values, ensuring superior signal integrity and reliable performance over a wide range of frequencies. Additionally, they are specifically designed to have very low interference levels to reduce the risk of signal loss during transmission.
In terms of its components, the OR-BNC-R connector features two parts: a body and a capture nut. The body is composed of a barrel and a pin. The pin is tapered at the tip and its outer side has a slot for insertion. The capture nut serves to provide a secure lock and is housed inside the body. It is connected to both the body and the cable.
When it comes to installation, the OR-BNC-R is quite straightforward. First the user needs to strip back the outer jacket of the cable to expose the inner conductor. Then, they need to insert the inner conductor into the pin of the body. Last, they must thread the capture nut onto the body until it is firmly in place.
When it comes to the OR-BNC-R connector’s working principle, it relies on two main components; impedance and air gap. Impedance helps to control the electrical energy transmitted between the two connectors, while the air gap is the distance between the pins which allows the fields from the two terminals to match with each other. The combination of these two components creates a low-loss connection, allowing the user to achieve a strong signal transmission.
The OR-BNC-R is an attractive option in terms of coaxial connectors (RF) – accessories, as it provides excellent performance in various applications. It features a simple, low-cost installation and its design ensures a stable connection with low interference levels. It also features a high-frequency range with excellent insulation value.
