The connector is designed as a compact, double-row, two-piece connector assembly that ensures secure positive mating of the two pieces. The connector can be mounted on boards with an even mounting surface and two rows of holes for the screws.The connector is usually made of plastic, composed of insulator and terminals, with a thickness of 0.6mm and a width of 11.3mm. The connector also comprises a housing having two rows of terminals mounted therein for mating with corresponding terminals of a complimentary connector, and a latch member mounted on the housing for locking two halves of the connector together when the two halves are mated.The mating of the two halves of the connector is characterized by the biased contact of the telescoping flexible terminals. This design eliminates rattles during mating and unmating while allowing for reasonable axial travel between the two halves. This travel allows for the component densities required to satisfy the needs of the current generation of Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designs.The connector consists of four standard-based contacts with an insulation displacement feature. The contacts are either straight or staggered. The standard-based contacts come with an embossed body and a silver-plated coating. The insulation displacement feature reduces both the time and labor associated with conventional wiring.Finally, the connector features a double-row design for increased contact density that allows the customer to do more with less packaging space and a simple latching mechanism between the two mating halves. The latching mechanism is designed to remain secure when subjected to shock and vibration associated with standard operating conditions.
