Working Principle
P0904UCMCLTP operates in two basic ways: forward-bias conduction and reverse-bias conduction. When the voltage applied to the P-type layer is greater than the voltage applied to the N-type layer, the device is called an Anode-Gate thyristor, and when the reverse is true, it is called a Cathode-Gate thyristor. In either case, the current flow is controlled by the amount of forward/reverse bias voltage applied.
When a P0904UCMCLTP is forward biased, current flows from the n-type layer into the p-type layer and the device is fully on. With reverse bias, the current is blocked until the voltage is increased to a high enough level, at which point the device breaks down and conducts current. This breakdown point is known as the "switching" voltage, and the current is "turned off” when the voltage falls back below the switched point.
