TVS - Thyristors - P1602ABL Application Field and Working Principle
The P1602ABL Thyristors are a range of high voltage Thyristors suitable for medium and high power switching up to ±25A high power, minimum current of ±50mA, and a voltage range of up to ±800V. These components offer a high versatility in applications including solar cell protection, adjustable temperature controllers, switching devices, and dimmers.
The P1602ABL Thyristors are built on a polysilicon substrate and feature an insulated gate structure with built-in diode. This allows them to provide a fast, easy way to control the power in an electronic circuit. The main advantages of these components over other types of Thyristors are their high speed switching and their low on-state voltage losses. In addition, they are also very efficient at power conversion, making them ideal for power supplies and voltage generators.
When the Thyristor is turned on, a small amount of current enters the controlled gate of the Thyristor, forming a low DC resistance path that allows the gate current to pass to the load or output. During the “on” state, the gate current is limited by the on resistance of the device, which can be adjusted to achieve the desired level of power control. On the other hand, when the gate current is broken, the device is deactivated and its gate current is no longer available, effectively cutting the circuit off from the load or output.
The P1602ABL has two main application areas. First, they are ideal for solar cell protection applications. In this application, the Thyristors act as an over-voltage and under-voltage protection device, allowing only selected levels of current through the solar cell while controlling the amount of power that can be consumed by the solar cell.
