The PCM2900BDBR is a stereo CODEC (COupled-DECoder) solution from Texas Instruments specifically designed for USB audio applications. This device provides a USB audio data interface for transmit/receive of stereo data with full-speed USB audio streaming.The PCM2900BDBR CODEC is equipped with a 16-bit stereo A/D converter, a 16-bit stereo D/A converter, a high-performance S/PDIF transceiver and a high-bandwidth USB audio class 1.0 compatible interface.

The PCM2900BDBR CODEC is intended for use as a USB audio CODEC in applications where USB audio streaming is desired. Ideal applications for this chip include applications such as PC soundcards, audio microscopes, digital cameras, and multimedia (business) audio.The device utilizes S/PDIF transceivers to provide high quality stereo audio signal transmission in digital form. This is achieved by providing an analog-to-digital converter and a digital-to-analog converter in the CODEC.The A/D converter in the CODEC is capable of functioning at sample rates of up to 48kHz. The D/A converter also supports conversion of signals up to 48kHz. The A/D and D/A converters have a signal-to-noise ratio of 96dB. The CODEC is equipped with a USB interface module that supports USB audio class 1.0 streaming.
