Fixed Inductors

Inductors are passive components used to store energy in a magnetic field. An inductor is a two-terminal device with an inductance that is produced by winding an insulated wire into a coil. Fixed inductors are those inductors which have a fixed inductance value. Fixed inductors include axial inductors, radial inductors, surface mount inductors and several other varieties.

One of the best examples of fixed inductors is the PE-53680NLT which has an application field for telecommunications and general electronics circuits. It is available in a 7.0mm x 7.5mm surface mount package and is capable of delivering maximum rated current of up to 1.2A.

This product has an SMT (Surface Mount Technology) terminal for heat dissipation for the ease and speedy installation on the circuit boards. This product\'s ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) is low. Both the lead and terminal resistance is minimum so that more power could be transferred through it.

The PE-53680NLT has the working principle of an inductor. When a changing electric current passes through its coil, a changing magnetic field is produced due to Faraday\'s law. This magnetic field induces a voltage, which works against the flow of electric current. The induced voltage is proportional to the rate of change of the electric current, hence an inductor is used as a filter to control the flow of alternating current. This is due to the fact that the voltage present in the coils decreases with increasing frequency of the current, hence allowing only lower frequency signals to pass through.

In addition, this inductor also features very low DC resistance, high self-resonant frequency and high Q value. It is also heated stabilized, with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and a storage temperature range of -55°C to +125°C. It is also RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) compliant, making it safe to use.
