Common Mode Chokes, such as the PE-67540, are a type of Coil-based noise suppression component used to reduce conducted noise on a power or signal line. Used mainly in power and signal line noise suppression, these components have a wide range of applications in many industries.
The PE-67540 is an axial-type EMI Common Mode Choke designed to suppress electromagnetic interference in power and signal line applications. It utilizes a special ferrite core and two identical coils to reduce both common and differential mode noise. The design of the core and the coils allows the PE-67540 to draw in and suppress high common mode noise.
The PE-67540 is designed for applications operating in frequencies up to 100MHz. Its shielding capabilities enable the unit to filter out any noise interference conducted on power and signal lines with a maximum impulse current of up to 3A. When it comes to heat dissipation, the PE-67540 is capable of dissipating heat through natural convection and its large profile increases its ability to withstand high temperatures.
The PE-67540’s working principle relies on the ferrite core encasing two flat windings. The Single flat winding has two terminals that are connected to the cable shield while the other has two terminals that are connected to the signal core. When voltage is applied to the terminals, the ferrite core causes the signal core to generate an inductor current and act as a transformer, thus providing the necessary differential mode noise suppression.
On the other hand, when a voltage is applied to the signal core with the positive terminal connected to the shield, the ferrite core acts like an inductor that allows current to flow between the shield and the signal core, thus providing the necessary common mode noise suppression.
The PE-67540 Common Mode Choke has many potential applications. It’s regularly used for higher-frequency noise suppression on AC and DC power lines, signal line noise suppression, and as a starter choke in power conversion applications such as Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS). This makes it suitable for use in a wide range of industries, from automotive and motor control to industrial settings.
When it comes to noise suppression solutions, the PE-67540 Common Mode Choke is a highly reliable and effective choice. It’s capable of tolerating both common and differential mode noise, it has high current, temperature, and shielding capabilities, and it’s designed for long-term, high performance operation.
