Working Principle

PEC26DFEN connectors adopt a two-piece construction. The first piece is the mating connector, which is assembled in the circuit board. It consists of a body with two contact pins on each side called pin row A and pin row B. The contact pins of the mating connector are bent inwards and crimped using a bridge press for extra security. The second piece is the plug-in connector, which comprises injection moulded body with two shear clips and two contact pins on each side. The locking mechanism of this type of connector is secured with a shear clip, ensuring that the two pieces will not become sparced during regular operation. When plugging the parts of the connector, the shear clip is released and also pivots on its hinges and snaps into place, securing the two parts together.

Pulling on the two sides of the plug-in portion of the connector will release the shear clip allowing disconnection. Here, the two parts come ap art with no damage. They can easily be reassembled, or replaced by a new pair without any additional tool requirements. This special design makes the PEC26DFEN connector an ideal choice for customer cabinet applications and other types of equipment where regular removal and insertion of connectors is needed.
