The normal mode allows generating a crystal frequency up to 1.0 GHz with a 0.8 V LVPECL waveform and up to 1.5 GHz with a 1.8V HCSL waveform. In spread-spectrum mode, slight frequency modulation is applied to the clock outputs in order to reduce the total electromagnetic interference (EMI) generated by the system. Spread-spectrum mode is unlocked by activating the SPREAD pin. In this mode, the jitter of the output does not exceed 1.0 ps.The PLL is the core component of the device which allows synchronization of the output clock with an external reference clock or an external crystal or even with multiple PI6C49014LIE devices, by means of the SYNC and SYSNC 2 pins. The PLL is also responsible for the frequency generation, which can be set using the CP, CP2 and CFSEL pins.The VCO allows dynamic frequency control of the output clock and the dynamic calibtration of the output clock frequency.
